Roscommon Go for Glory in Connacht Final

Sunday 18 July 2010 was a massive day in the calendar for the Sierra sponsored Roscommon Senior Football team as they contested the Connacht Senior Football Championship Final. They faced stern opposition in a confident Sligo team, who managed to beat Connacht heavyweights, Galway and Mayo on the way to the final.

Fergal O’ Donnell’s team had endured an indifferent league campaign but that was placed firmly to the back of their minds as they were fully focused on winning their first Connacht Championship since 2001.

Roscommon’s young team gave a great performance with a final score of 0-14 Roscommon, 0-13 Sligo, and Roscommon’s Donal Shine taking man-of-the-match.

Congratulations to all at Roscommon, hopefully this is the first of many successes that our partnership will achieve together.

Sierra's Public Lighting Division

Sierra’s New Public Lighting Division

Sierra has recently forged its own Public Lighting Division.

Former owner of Moroney Electrical, Sean Moroney, has joined Sierra and will lead the Sierra Public Lighting Division as Operations Manager/Contracts Manager, bringing with him to Sierra a team of highly qualified and experienced electricians who have worked on various public lighting schemes for the past 15+ years.

Sierra has recognised the strength a Public Lighting Division could bring to its already strong contingent of Divisions under the utilities banner – power/energy, civil engineering, gas, telecommunications and satellite television. In this vein it has merged with a leader in the public lighting sector, Moroney Electrical, to offer the necessary experience and technical capability to the strength Sierra offers as a company in terms of business acumen, health & safety adherence and accreditation, plant and equipment, geographical spread, personnel and management, training facilities, environmental and quality accreditation, not to mention recognised experience in project management and established, long-term relationships with principal local authorities throughout the country.

In conjunction with Moroney’s technical capabilities and previous public lighting experience, Sierra will bring the expertise of its in-house Civil Division, which will be instrumental for any civil engineering components required for public lighting contracts such as underground excavations for broken cable, or pole replacement. Sierra’s Power Division will bring extensive experience working in a live-line environment, and experience with work at height and installation of poles etc as required.

Sierra’s Public Lighting Division is able to carry out all public and street lighting, motorway lighting, high-mast lighting, tunnel lighting and structures lighting. The new Division comes appropriately qualified, with RECI and AECI registration for its electricians.
