Cornmarket Square

Sierra has recently completed a Dublin City Council project at Cornmarket Square. In just 8 months our team laid 600m² of granite paving, 160m² of granite setts and 250m of granite kerbs to create a popular public area in the centre of Cornmarket.

Using appropriate materials, the newly restored Cornmarket Square, through its myriad of clean lines and smooth finishes, makes a positive contribution to the character, appearance and quality not only of the wider streetscape, but also to the overlooking St Audoen’s Church – the only medieval parish church remaining in Dublin.Notably, the central grey paving area is a representative of the Old City Wall – a static metaphorical example of the former foundation to the wall. This forms a focal point to the square and the area as a whole, and ensures this prime historical point of reference is not lost in this modern representation of what was formerly present in the area.
