Sierra Support Services' Civil Team has recently completed the first bike rental scheme outside of Dublin, which has been rolled out in Galway. When the scheme is fully operational in the western capital, there will be 205 bikes for hire at 19 stations, all of them in and around the city centre.
Coca-Cola is investing a total of €3 million in the bikes scheme over the next five years. The company is also also sponsoring bike schemes in Limerick and Cork, both of which will be completed by Sierra ahead of the launch date.
The regional launch of the scheme, when complete, will see 740 bikes available for hire; 205 in Galway, 215 in Limerick and 320 in Cork. The bikes are supplied by French company Tracetel and bear the Coca Cola Zero brand as part of the sponsorship deal.
